The National Gallery of Victoria is Australia’s favourite gallery. The extensive NGV Collection is recognised amongst the world’s best, and is proudly displayed across two venues, NGV International on St Kilda Road and The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia at Federation Square.

Public Transport

There are a variety of public transport options available for people with limited mobility. Visit the Public Transport Victoria website to search for transport options with your journey preferences.

Accessible tram stops are located directly outside NGV International, on St Kilda Road, and near The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia at Federation Square / Swanston Street.

For those with limited mobility, it is recommended that you access The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia via the entrance on the Russell Street Extension or via the Fed Square atrium off Flinders Street, as the outdoor path through the main Fed Square area has a sloped and uneven surface.

Parking

Free street parking spots for people with appropriate permits are located outside the Arts Centre Melbourne on St Kilda Road, however these spots are in high demand.

Paid accessible parking is available at the Arts Centre Melbourne and Australian Ballet Centre Car Park for NGV International, and at Fed Square for The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia.

Taxi

Taxi drop off points are located outside the Arts Centre Melbourne for NGV International, and on the Russell Street Extension for The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia.

Daily Tours

Guided tours of both NGV international and NGV Australia, run at the same time everyday. Please meet at the information desk on the ground floor. The Daily Highlights tour, 45 minutes, English, runs in each building every day at 11am and 1pm. The NGV Collection tour, 60 minutes, English, runs in each building every day at noon and 2pm.

By entering NGV Premises, each person agrees to be bound by the following Terms and Conditions of
Public Entry:

Whenever you are on NGV Premises you need to refrain from:

  • Touching, or in any other way, interfering with artwork on display
  • Using photographic or recording equipment in areas where this has been restricted (the NGV’s Photography and Filming Guidelines are available from the Information Desk)
  • Using tripods, selfie sticks, flash or lighting equipment without the express permission of the NGV (the NGV’s Photography and Filming Guidelines are available from the Information Desk)
  • Smoking (including the use of e-cigarettes) on the NGV Premises, including the Grollo Equiset Garden at NGV International
  • Eating or drinking in artwork display areas or other places where this is restricted
  • Bringing animals onto NGV Premises, except for Guide Dogs and other registered assistance dogs
