Kids’ Own Publishing, along with guest artists, will host a space in which children and families can be immersed in the art of bookmaking, the craft of producing an art book and the democratic and performative act of publishing. Melbourne artist Michael Camilleri is in charge.

Guest artists

Michael Camilleri is an award-winning Melbourne artist. He illustrates books, makes comics and animations, draws storyboards, paints, directs theatre, and is sometimes a crazy clown. He has combined all this and more in his role as as ‘Grand Imaginator’ with Kids’ Own Publishing since 2014.

Luke Duncan King is a multi-disciplinary artist working predominantly in printmaking and watercolour and also in collaboration with actors, dancers and other artists. He works with Deaf and hard of hearing people in museums, galleries and artspaces.

Bern Emmerichs has a diverse practice embracing mosaics, paintings on ceramics and public artworks and has produced extraordinary illustrations painted and fired onto ceramic tiles for six picture books for children that explore historical narratives of Australia’s colonial past.

Kathy Holowko is a sculptor and book designer whose playful installations, public art and projects in a variety of media search for narratives and connections that can help reconsider our world as a cyclical, and shared, habitat.
