The United Nations announced that we have until 2030 to halve carbon emissions globally. This transformation will be driven by cities not countries.

It’s inevitable that cities will become self-sufficient in terms of energy, water and waste. We’ve arrived at a convenient convergence in which the solutions required to achieve this transition are not only technically feasible but also profitable. So, what’s really holding us back? And how do we enable this transition to happen in time?

This talk summarises the findings from a one-day workshop in which influential designers and key decision-makers worked together to plan out how to apply these solutions to Greater Melbourne.
