From our team here at NGV, we’d like to express our very best wishes to our community during this challenging time.

In a precautionary measure, that considers the current public health situation, we are closing the NGV to the public, effective tomorrow Monday 16 March until 13 April.

If you have pre-purchased tickets for current exhibitions or upcoming programs, our team will be in contact with you shortly.

We encourage you to visit our website and follow our social media for updates.

We are very grateful for the loyalty and understanding of the NGV community and wish everyone well during this time.

MTalks: BLAKitecture: Outwards or Inwards

Presented by MPavilion

Sorry you missed this one!
Free entry Mon 16 Mar, 6.15pm–7.15pm
Queen Victoria Gardens, St Kilda Rd,

Standing at the edge of a site and looking in, or standing in the middle and looking out? They are two very different starting points for design. This forum will consider these two approaches, including the influence of abstract mapping and how we can be more connected to place in our design approach, and how the site is connected to a wider dynamic system.

MPavilion’s third annual BLAKitecture forum brings together Indigenous built environment practitioners on the Yaluk-ut Weelam land of the Boon Wurrung people. The forum aims to centralise Indigenous voices in conversations about architecture, the representation of histories, the present state and the future of our built environments. BLAKitecture 2019/20 is curated by Sarah Lynn Rees and Jack Mitchell.

Sarah-Lynn Rees, Architect, cultural consultant and curator
Andy Fergus, Urban design critic, commentator and practitioner
Carroll Go-Sam, Lecturer in the School of Architecture, University of Queensland (UQ), Brisbane.
Anne-Marie Pisani, Landscape Architect
