EXHIBITION TIME: SAT 21 MAR, 6–10PM
Ambiance design creates small, localised environments that provide alternative aural and spatial experiences within the everyday spaces of the city. This event brings together scholars, artists and designers in the MPavilion, to discuss ambiance design. A curated set of conversations will include a panel of six with the founder of the International Ambiances Network and discipline-leading sound researcher Jean-Paul Thibaud (CNRS/CRESSON), scholar and sound-artist Marie Koldkjær Højlund (Aarhus), sound-artist Philip Samartzis (RMIT), atmosphere researcher Shanti Sumartojo (MADA), moving image artist Polly Stanton (RMIT) and air designer, Malte Wagenfeld (RMIT).
The conversation will be facilitated by soundscape designer and sound artist, Jordan Lacey (DECRA Fellow, RMIT). Following the conversations, there will be a curated series of ambient soundscapes designed for the environs of Geoff Murcatt’s MPavillion.
