In the 1950s, the high-end dressmaking salons and photography studios of Collins Street’s ‘Paris end’ wielded enormous influence on Australian style.

Learn about the glamour of the era through the story of a dress that found its way into the NGV Collection courtesy of an iconic photograph by Athol Shmith.
